Rookie signing thread

This can really be for all the NFL. Its amazing that within the first week, a first round pick has already been signed.

Bears break the seal on first round, signing 14th pick Kyle Fuller. Will be roughly $9.6M over 5 yrs, $5.36M of it in signing bonus.

That's a bit of proof that the NFL absolutely got what they wanted in the last CBA. Holdouts cost a lot to the players. There's practically no room for negotiation or agent spin.

That said, I still wonder why teams are choosing to sign them so early. Aren't they on the hook if a freak accident happens? or are there waivers in there for that too?

That's my point, the Bears already signed their 1st round pick, which before this CBA usually that guy would have been waiting till right before July training camp to sign.

Re: Rookie signing thread

Well they are trying to get the signings in fast. Due to the fact of the players wanting to be in camp on time. Better sign now then wait later.

Re: Rookie signing thread

Well, that sure was fast

Redskins get deals with most of their draft class | ProFootballTalk

The Redskins have another mass of rookie signings, a group far too big for one Twitter picture.

The team announced they had agreed to terms with six of their eight draft picks.

In addition to the previously mentioned Spencer Long and Lache Seastrunk, they’ve also done deals with cornerback Bashaud Breeland, wide receiver Ryan Grant, tight end Ted Bolser and kicker Zach Hocker.

That leaves just two of their picks unsigned, second-rounders Trent Murphy and Morgan Moses.

For the rookies it's better, but in the past the teams have always said that it was better for them to wait, less risk of payout if someone is hurt in a non football related injury, etc etc. But this year, it's a signing free for all. I think we have 6 of 8 signings done. That's crazy.

Re: Rookie signing thread

With the new CBA there's no need to wait. There's not much to negotiate.
