Re: The RG3 Sucks - Knee Jerk Reaction Thread
Cooley on rg3
"You can’t sit at your locker or be on the field and say well it’s not my fault,” Griffin continued. “You know, ‘I’m a baller, I’m an all-pro, I’m a Pro Bowl player.’ Because right now, we have no Pro Bowl players. We don’t. We’re not playing that way. I’m not playing that way, the line’s not playing that way, our receivers aren’t playing that way, the backs aren’t playing that way, our defense isn’t playing that way, our special teams isn’t playing that way. And we all know that. Coaches reiterated that to us many times, and guys have to accept that.” There was more, but that’s the basic idea. “We have to get better, but we do have Pro Bowlers,” Cooley pointed out. “DeSean Jackson is going to make the Pro Bowl this season. DeSean Jackson had his chances of making the Pro Bowl hurt by two overthrows and one blatantly missed throw that would have been three touchdowns….You have guys that are playing well. You can’t individually attack positions and players. It’s just not going to be good business for you as a quarterback.” |

If RG3 never pans out, where does he rate among biggest NFL busts?

He won rookie of the year so he's not going to be at the top of anybody's list. A lot of his issues will be blamed on injuries and rightly so. He would definitely be top ten though.

Just for comparison, Bryan Hoyer has played like shit the last two games, but the guys around him are balling and yesterday they got a nice win. First year coach with all kinds of QB controversy and of course it's the Browns, but clearly Pettine has his guys focused and they're winning!
Take notice Jay Gruden, your closest peer is kicking your ass. |

Re: The RG3 Sucks - Knee Jerk Reaction Thread
RG3 needs to continue to play, he is coming off two major injuries. He has to learn how to play with his new body, he physically can't do the things that he has done in the past.
RG3 needs to do three things to turn this around 1. Turn-off all media- Do not listen to what is being said outside of the locker room. Not on radio, ESPN, FOX, Washington Post, nothing. The only voices he should listen too are his coaches. 2. Develop a relationship with Brett Farve. BF would sling that rock and he didn't give a eff if he threw a pick or got a TD. Gunslinger, stop playing afraid to make a mistake. RG needs to learn that mentality. Study tape of Farve and Rogers. Understand how to throw people open. 3. Hire an ex-coach in the offseason to spend time with him going through tape, running drills and identifying reads. More than just two weeks. this has to be a full year type of thing. The Redskins as a team should to commit to him, I know that is not the easy thing to do... but he has all the tools and a commitment to learn/ want to be the best.

Re: The RG3 Sucks - Knee Jerk Reaction Thread
I've had faith in Griffin on the field.
Yes, I called him a douchebag on here a while ago (and some of you wondered why... lol) but that specifically related to his off the field stuff. I really, honest to God had faith he would become an elite quarterback on the field. But after this week I'm concerned. My faith is shaken. I haven't given up... but it doesn't look good to me. My biggest concern is not with his smarts or his athletic ability. I still feel confident Griffin is an intelligent guy - significantly more intelligent than the average person. I still believe he's athletic and faster than all the other QB's in the game even though he seems to have lost a step. I'm honestly concerned that he just doesn't understand the situation he's in. That he's still in this mindset of - our offensive line sucks, our WR's aren't getting open, and the coach is putting me in positions to fail not succeed. It doesn't matter how athletic or intelligent he is. If he is still delusional about where he is as an NFL quarterback and what has to happen for him to get to where he wants to be, then it doesn't matter. All is lost. And I just don't get the sense that he has a clue where he actually is anymore. To me, that is likely the source of Gruden's frustration. The guy thinks he's world class and everyone else is to blame, when it's so clearly and obviously him that's holding back the rest of the team at this point. I also wonder if when Griffin tried to come back Gruden said something along the lines of: I have a guy that's won 2 games and looks ok. We've got bad teams coming up. We have a shot to turn this season around. You have the stature in this franchise to demand I put you on the field. If you're going to say you're ready, if you're going to demand you be put on the field, then you better sure as shit be ready else you're going to cost everyone this season. And if you do that, then I'm going to be harder on you than anyone I've ever coached. You know, kind of like when he told Shanahan he was ready in 2013. Or how he hid the fact that he was significantly injured from the coaching staff in 2012. He's always been all about him. It's starting to look like the act is wearing off on his team mates and coaches. If you're going to be all about you, then you better perform at a top level. Else it all crashes down around you. |

Re: The RG3 Sucks - Knee Jerk Reaction Thread
I wish no ill to Griffin, just suspect he will likely leave in this offseason or next. I suspect there's a chance he could still be the next Trent Green or Brad Johnson, and we'll look back and wonder -- but in DC he'd be cancer given the years it will take to develop, and the active locker room / media frenzy.
Griffin needs (1) Time/Years, (2) Better OLine, (3) Less spotlight, (4) No expectations. If there's a place in the league that could do that for him, he may develop. At least right now that place is not here. Unfortunately, I think we're destined for a few lost years with Beck-type QBs until we pull a "suck for luck" and finally draft another #1 QB to take us to the promised land.. |

Re: The RG3 Sucks - Knee Jerk Reaction Thread
I was looking at NFL network earlier.....coach Brian Billick broke down some plays where the Redskins wide receivers ran routes and Griffin had clear targets in the zone......he clearly couldn't see where to go through with the football so he held it longer than he should have instead of completing the pass to the open receivers......he is blind at reading and seeing not only coverages but he can't see the open receivers either.......this proves that RG3 is not an NFL ready quarterback!

Based on our track record this all sounds very realistic, but sometimes unexpected things happen that work out just fine. Too many examples around the league from Brady to Brees to Romo to Wilson. Plenty of ways that you can step in dogshit in this league and turn things around in a hurry. Only thing that keeps me sane is that we are due....overdue...for some good things. Obviously Snyder isnt going anywhere, so I think the most important change rite now is to get BA the hell out. BA and Haslett imo both need to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
