the bigger problem has been the second level tackling. Its been a major problem and bruton wasn't getting it done.

Reyes was totally expendable with Hood playing essentially his role at a cheaper price.

I would guess Ioannidis may start to get more snaps as he comes along.

Given that Bruton is pretty banged up, I definitely see the need for safety depth. But yeah I am concerned about the goalline package specifically, Golston and Knighton were pretty stout in that area last year but neither are here now. I wasn't a fan of how we folded like a house of cards and Alfred Morris just waltzed into the end zone. It was a bit too easy for Crowell, too.

Maybe the thinking is that with Whitner, we can do a lot more run blitzing. But I share the concern.

True. And maybe McC knows there's a DL problem, but just doesn't see anybody out there who could help. Pot Roast is the obvious one but how do we know he's not 400 pounds right now.

Was reading somewhere that if Pot Roast can just be part of a DT rotation versus strictly NT, they think he could be effective even if he was over-weight. I don't mind this idea if the price was right.

Called that one too. It just makes sense, Brutton was a 4 game wonder, he's done in Washington. Now with his vacant spot DL can be brought up.

I guess I was wrong with the DL. Another S.

Reports: Redskins sign safety Josh Evans, move David Bruton to injured reserve | CSN Mid-Atlantic

Hall, Breeland, now Bruton... I can see how this secondary needed help.

This also could mean Kerrigan's injury won't last, so they trust they can find a way to bring pressure with him, Smith and Murphy without bringing anybody else at DL.

Re: Redskins Sign Donte Whitner

was wondering that since both golston and whitner are the same player why not just resign golston? both are stout against the run, and hard hitters, but neither could cover me. it must be about straight cash homie

They play with the same style but I don't think Whitner's play has ever dropped to the level Goldson's did last year. Goldson was bad in coverage and inconsistent in run support last year.

Plus Goldson is under contract with ATL.

Same style player, but nowhere close to equals. Whitner is considerably better.

Re: Redskins Sign Donte Whitner

Hasn't Wittner been on the street since last off season?? No training camp, OTA or minicamp?? Just not sure he's going to be able to walk on an NFL field at 31 and be up to speed. Plus Cleveland let him go and no one picked him up. What about Rambo?? ...lol.
