Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
All NFL QB's take time to develop. Watson just does not get nearly the credit he should. To each their own though. I'd take him in the 1st round.

I hope that Watson gets picked ahead of us though, because that means one better player that we might be interested in is still on the board.

Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
I've watched Watson play a lot over the last 3 years and the kid has been an excellent QB. How he manages the 4th quarter is unbelievable and the way he carries himself is impressive. Not taking away from his talent but he was surrounded by talent that was molded for the way Clemson plays offense. He plays majority of his snaps out of the shotgun formation and a lot of QB option plays. Also, a lot of his plays come from outside of the pocket. The way he plays the position...kinda reminds me of the way RGIII and Cam played in college.

there is no Andrew Luck in this draft or even a Goff.

Watson is way more talented as a QB than Tebow and has a way better head on his shoulders than Vince Young. He'll be miles better than either of him in the NFL.

Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
Agree. However, how will Watson do playing under center and trying to make a lot of plays inside the pocket? That is something that he has not had to do in college. He will not be able to run the ball 15 to 20 times a game like he did at Clemson.

The worst thing about his game to me is his interceptions. He has a gunslinger mentality and a willingness to give his receivers a chance on 50-50 balls these often result in bad decisions/interceptions. Everything else about the kid I like. Efficiency, Accuracy, quick decisions, Improvisation, Poise, Pre-snap adjustments, Post snap progression. |

Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
We run a lot of offense out of shotgun too and he seems atheletic/smart enough to get used to being under center. But I do think college coaches in general really do a disservice to quarterbacks. It's all shotgun all the time for most teams. Watching college a lot of times the teams look like they're running the same plays.
