Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry
Quote:
2nd point: Greg Manusky Record, Statistics, and Category Ranks | Pro-Football-Reference.com His defensive stats are unimpressive. You guys might remember those San Fran defenses as great, but the rankings don't lie. Yeah I know rankings don't tell the whole story, but other than two years where his San Fran defenses were top 10 in points everything else is average to mediocre. And he's never been top 10 in yards. Other than 1 year he's been average to mediocre in takeaways. We have an opportunity to bring in coaches who not only have the stats to back it up, they also can elevate the players through their teaching and keeping the scheme simple enough that players don't have to think. Why settle for less? I don't need to hear about energy and passion, we rode that train with Joe Barry. I'm beginning to suspect that was the whole reason he was hired, he was young, and full of energy. He certainly didn't have the resume for the job.
