Not so crazy trade ideas
There are two teams out there in desperate need of help in areas that we can spare so I thought I would throw out some unlikely but not so crazy trade ideas to have a little fun with.
Ravens: Desperate need of a backup RB and QB, so we send them Matt Jones and Colt for next years #2 pick Jags: Desperate need of a high end LT, we send Ty Neske for next years 1st or 2nd Thoughts or other unlikely but interesting and semi feasible trade ideas? |

Re: Not so crazy trade ideas
Colt and Neske aren't going anywhere. Matt Jones you probably couldn't get anything for unless he shows well in Preseason games.
I think only reasonable trades would be made to previous coaches who now are HC in SF or the Rams. IMO...someone like Niles Paul would make sense to SF if Sprinkle and Carrier played well....and Reed comes back. If Matt Jones looks good, maybe to Rams for a 7th? I don't see anything higher than 5th rounds picks being exchanged.

Re: Not so crazy trade ideas
The others were more pie in the sky and fun the think about, hence the title. I know Colt is definitely not going anywhere and I can see him transition to a coaching role here in a year or so.
I would trade Neske if we got a reasonable offer and role with the risk. He is a top half of the league starter and I would role the dice on Trent since neske is not in the long term plans. Matt Jones if traded wouldn't get more than a 6th at best probably a 7th but it would not totally shock me if he looks good. |

Re: Not so crazy trade ideas
"Not-so-crazy trades" is a pretty low bar - if wild pie-in-the-sky speculation is the standard, sure anything could happen. However, to me, trading these players for anything close to what you are suggesting is not even a reasonably remote possibility.
- Even if he shows well in preseason, I would be shocked if we could get more than a ham sandwich for Jones. Back-up RB's are a dime-a-dozen ... and that's for the ones without fumbling issues and attitude problems. If someone offered us a 7th for him, he would be on a bus before the other side could hang-up the phone. - Nseke is more valuable to us than anything anyone would offer. No way would I take less than a 3rd or 4th for him (and even then, I would have to think long and hard about a 4th rounder), and no one is going to give us that for an over 30 back-up tackle. On the other hand, if we have to replace him as the 3rd tackle, I seriously doubt we could get anyone of his quality without having to draft Trent's eventual replacement. - Colt is loved by the coaching staff and, hell, he may be next year's starter so he's not going anywhere.

Re: Not so crazy trade ideas
Ty Neske is awesome insurance, no way do we let him go.
And if we lost Colt we would have to sign Colin Crapperdick or RG Knee.
