The transition tag limits Kirk's salary to "only" 28 mil, but the Skins get no compensation.

I think tagging Kirk now would be pure, transparent, counter-productive spite on Allen and Snyder's part, unless there's some trade option I don't know. And Kirk is still laughing all the way to the bank. He earned it the past couple years.

So let's pretend to play Devil's Advocate, or pretend to be Bruce Allen just for a minute. We slap the franchise tag on Kirk for 34 million this season, but also complete our trade with Alex Smith and legally sign him when the new league year begins. So that means Cousins is getting his 34 million, and Alex Smith in his first year is getting around what, 22 million?

How Much will this affect our salary cap, how much will be available for other players if we have 56 million tied up in two quarterbacks? I don't know the cap part but i imagine this would be brutal, as well as make us more of a laughing stock than we already are.
