My point is you and I can decide where we want to work and can maximize our income by shopping our talents to multiple employers creating a bidding scenario. That is all I meant by freedom and ownership. Dont put words in my mouth.

After five years of obligation to the team that drafted you that should be enough. The Franchise tag is a tool for owners to prevent player movement and to try and keep salaries down. Basically saving the owners from themselves, because it is another owner that is bidding for your player.
Most Redskins fans did not like the first time we franchised KC. Much less the second time. It was a mistake and very unpopular.
