Its a crime but im pretty sure its just a misdemeanor. He'll pay a fine that he can easily afford.
Now if he was selling it to the little league team he coached...thatd be different. Players dont care about fines or speeding tickets, an extra 200 a year in raised insurance rates means nothing. It costs them omre to correct their public image than anything.
