Defensive Line

Our whole D line is based pretty much on run stopping which is good but since the other teams are picking up our blitzes we need to change something. Our D Line has an average weight of about 300 pounds. Our Denfensive Ends weigh about the same as the Colt's Defensive Tackles, I think we should sacrifice some of our run stopping for speed which is one of the most important parts of defense... speed kills

Re: Defensive Line

I wouldn't go so far as to call them "good" at run stopping. They're adequite at best.

Re: Defensive Line

The Redskins have invested their salary cap dollars in other portions of the team and the DL is a unit that is made up of guys they can afford to keep on the team. Griffin has played very well for a year and a half now. None of the other defensive linemen on this team starts for any other serious playoff team in the NFL. That is why Gregg Williams' defensive schemes have been so fantastic. He has managed to conceal that relative weakness in the defense and make the unit into something that keeps the Skins in most of their games.

This may be the first time I completely agree with you. However, we're being exploited right now, and are creating no pressure because when our secondary is blitzing, we're being exploited and we cannot get pressure with our front four. We lose alot of coverage sacks after 5+ seconds that we should be able to get someone in a QB's face, and even a no-name (or all name depending on how you look at it) QB looks like a genius throwing balls away or scrambling for positive yards.

Re: Defensive Line

wynn at 4mill a year is NOT cheap... average DEs make closer to half his salary. i agree that griffin is the only good palyer we shouldn't consider replacing there. If we do get a good DE and possibly a DT, our current DEs can alway slide in to DT, become depth or find other work...
