Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Don't trade him ... but don't pay him either.
He has two years left on his contract. Make him honor it. At least one year of it. Scherff is more of a priority right now. |

Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Trent may miss a few games a season, but he also plays when he’s not even close to healthy (moreso than playing with the normal dings that come with pro football). A 70 percent Trent is still better than most left tackles. Dude doesn’t give up sacks and he’s running down field and pancaking defenders on runs. Plus he can swing inside in a pinch. Trent is the best player we have on the team. Linemen can often perform at high levels longer than other position players. He’s timed the demand perfectly in his favor.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Not only that but Ty is gone and knows there's literally nothing behind him. Christian didn't show much last year and we're going to be playing a rookie QB. Trent holds all the cards if you ask me.

Aside from that, he's a team leader, he's always worked hard, and played through injury, and is amongst the best at his position. It's easy to see pay the man, but I'd give him a new contract with an out clause after 3 or so years because we know we're not getting 16 games a year out of him anymore. |

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
There is only one analysis that matters when deciding to pay him top money.
How many games do we win this year with him, without him? (If you respond, please give the number of games you think he plays as well.) Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
What would you consider a legit offer? I would hate to see him go, but like you said the numbers have to be right, or the offer has to be right.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
It's a smart time for him to do this with the investment the team just made that they expect him to protect for another 3-4 years....

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Cut Vernon Davis and give Trent a few million per year more. Otherwise, you go into a major rebuilding mode.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
This is pretty shitty and selfish of Trent and his agent for pulling this shit when knowingly that Scherff is up for a contract renewal, the team is in the hole for $20M for Alex Smith. The team put up with his pot suspensions, getting hit in the head with a bottle at bar in Hawaii and his many injuries. The only way to pay Trent and Scherff is to cut Norman, Reid and Davis.

He is already making bank. So you're advocating making him the highest paid OL. You should at least be able to value what he brings to the team in wins. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
