Anybody remember the HBO series 1st and 10? I used to watch that as a kid. I also like the Waterboy, Rudy and The Program.

I agree with all the movies you listed Redskins8588, I would add Rudy and All the Right Moves to that list.

All these movies are good. Basically anyone with football in it is good. All the Right Moves was a decent one with Tom Crews.

Any Given Sunday is the best pure football moive. Rudy is a definte classic as well. Pretty much anything said here is a great movie, or at least good for laughs.

I am not sure this is a good idea!
Q: So Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are headlining a remake of "The Longest Yard." Sandler is playing the part of Paul Crewe ... aka, Burt Reynolds. Now, Reynolds is a former football player; a '70s sex-symbol; the masculine icon for that decade. So naturally, the choice to replace him is ... Adam Sandler? Are they kidding?
--Jeff, Shawnee, Kansas SG: Here's what bothers me: Why remake something that was great in the first place? They could never top the original "Longest Yard." It's impossible. And they know that. So the only way it could make money was to make it more of a comedy, which is how Sandler and Rock became involved. But since they're already losing out on every sports movie fan who loved the original one and would never support a bastardized version, that means they'll try to "mainstream" it and appeal to everyone, which can't possibly work. And then you have Sandler playing Paul Crewe, which is like remaking "The Shining" with Chris Klein. What a disaster. I do not like the idea of remaking a classic football movie like this, I could understand if the movie sucked the first time. IMO "The Longest Yard" is the one of the best football movies ever made. I am a big Adam Sandler fan, but leve this movie alone. |

The Waterboy is even greater to Skins fans because its based on Arrington. Adam Sandler went to Penn State games to watch and learn the Lavar Leap in order to do it in the movie

Of all the movies thus far mentioned only "The Longest Yard" comes even close to being a "classic". The rest I wouldn't find fit to shore up the wobbly corner on my entertainment center. I would rather be wrestled to the ground and forced to eat a grasshopper than watch
Any Given Sunday again. Any Given @#$%day. |
