I don't think they went sniffing around pretty much every available QB this offseason to bring in a backup. And RF just said yesterday on the Ross Tucker podcast interview the main reason he came here was the opportunity to play... reading the not so subtle tea leaves on what he said he's here to start.

I dont argue he is here to start, but on a 1 year deal that is clear backup money, I don't see that as a promise he is our starter. Moreso it is hey you are our starter with reservations.

Nothing about his deal says he is more than a bridge qb just in case we don't find one in training camp or through the draft.
