Smart move, obviously. Potential never equaled production.

In other unsurprising news, no one signed Smith and he retired. Two points on that:

1. Wish the guy well, incredible human being and story.
2. Cutting him was absolutely right move. His agent certainly called all 32(1) teams, and he couldn't even get on as 3rd string backup. We were paying franchise QB money to a guy other teams wouldn't even pay the league minimum. Be so good next year when completely free and clear of mistakes of old for good--or until THE DAN inevitably meddles.
