Joecrisp - Minicamp question.
This is a little strange of a topic, but I remember in Denver Portis was a bit famous for his neon orange shoes. Have you noticed his cleats being either neon Burgandy (haha?) or bright yellow? Just curious, because I always loved seeing those shoes!

I don't remember noticing anything peculiar about his shoes-- I think he was wearing the same shoes everybody else was wearing. I'm sure if they were bright I would have noticed them. I'll have to keep an eye out for that next time.

Here's a shot of Portis from minicamp. The shoes he's wearing here are the same as those worn by some of the other backs and wideouts.

Would Gibb's let Portis wear different shoes? I don't know if player's get to choose that or not. With Gibb's TEAM philosophy, I'm guessing he wouldn't want it. Do players get to choose? Please excuse the ignorance if this is a known issue. Just something I never thought about.

I'm not sure, manicd. However, I don't see how different shoes could really make a guy not a "team" player.

Doesn't the league mandate that they are the same color as the uni? He could get a pair in gold?

Yeah - he'd have to go with Redskin theme'd shoes. However a bright yellow/red should be acceptable.

Gibbs probably wouldn't allow any one player to draw extra attention to himself and (arguably) away from the team. If Portis is allowed to wear shoes that are a different color, shade or intensity than his teammates', pretty soon the other players are going to want to add their own twist to their uniforms and you can't have 11 dudes out on the field with shoes in all the colors of the rainbow. Or can you?

Gold shoes would be awsome, like Micheal Johnson when he ran in the olympics.

I think you guys have been watching a little too much "Queer Eye." But I digress, gold shoes would be fabulous.
