Re: NFC Playoff Possibilities
This is a good link to the espn playoff breakdown. We are at the bottom of the pile, but I think that changes after this Sunday. And don't count out NO playing spoiler to Atlanta tonight either.

Re: final nfc contenders
I think that Tampa win yesterday against Carolina really hurt the Skins. Yes, the Skins need to win out, but Tampa and Carolina now probably have 2 playoff spots. Which ones they each have (Division champ or Wildcard) doesn't really matter, it just made the race for the last spot that much harder. Yes there is an outside shot at the NFC East title, but the Skins need help from the Giants to get there. Just sweep Dallas and I will feel great. Also, after watching Philly yesterday I have concluded that they won't be a pushover like I thought they would before Sunday.

Re: NFC Playoff Possibilities
All of this looks desperate, but it will look really good if the Skins can beat the Cowboys at home next week. We will move way up and they will go to the bottom.

Re: final nfc contenders
Chicago is not a lock either for the division or the wildcard. They have a fairly tough schedule and could go either way possibly losing 2 of the 3 and we would have the tiebreaker over them. So much can happen, that last game in Chicago and Minnesota could be our ticket if we are to go wildcard. I think Atlanta will get beat up on these last four games and eliminate themselves extremely tough schedule. Atlanta we only need to lose 1 game, we need Tampa to win that division since they hold the tiebreaker against us. So hope Carolina gets beat up on at least two of these games to go to 10-6. Any team that goes 10-6 we hold the tie-breaker against except Tampa who owns the head-to-head. We have a great division record and conference record if we win out.
I have not seen it posted anywhere else, how serious is Antonio Pierce injury when he got carted off the field with a ankle injury? I would think that would be a big lost to there D this late in the season. |

Re: final nfc contenders
we need New York to lose 2-3 includeing our game agianst them and we need to win out. If Tampa lost 2-3 wouldn't hurt either....but most of all we have to win all three games.

Re: final nfc contenders (merged)
How hilarious would it be to see Chicago lose hold of the division and then lose a tie breaker to the Skins and not even get in?!
Funny how the Skins were quickly labeled as the worst 3-0 team in NFL history (which I still don't understand), yet the Bears seem to get off the hook. I mean seriously, and we think our offense has problems? A 10 point lead on the Bears is like 30 on anyone else. |

Re: final nfc contenders (merged)
The Skins have to win out and hope that dal, min, and atl lose 2 of their last 3 games, assuming that whoever doesn't win the south (carolina, t.b.) will be the first wild card. We really hurt ourselves by losing those close games against the afc west teams. The person earlier was right the other 3 contenders do play a tougher schedule than the redksins, so all we can do is hope the redskins win out, and the rest plays itself out to our advantage.

First, let's assume that the Skins must win out. We would win the division if the Giants lost a 2nd game in this stretch run (to either KC or Oakland) We would get a wildcard if TWO of the following happen: -Minnesota loses at least once -Atlanta loses at least once -Carolina loses at least twice -Chicago loses at least twice -Tampa loses all three (pretty unlikely) Minnesota still plays Pittsburgh and Chicago, while Atlanta still has tough matchups with Tampa, Carolina, and Chicago. It's reasonable to expect that both will lose at least once. So bottom line, if the Skins take care of business, their chances for making the postseason look pretty strong. |
