Officiating and possible rule changes
Given all the crap about bad officiating for the umpteenth season, what suggestions would you propose to try to address some of the issues seen, particularly the fiasco with the Panthers v Buccs this weekend? For what it's worth, I have 2:
Fully professional officials. Yeah, it's been mooted before, but... Referee/NY able to overrule an officiating screw up there and then and force a replay of down. i.e. The fumble that was ruled as a 6yd loss because of 'inadvertent whistle'. Officials are not perfect, who is, but something so egregious shouldn't be allowed to affect the outcome of a game. |

Agree with your suggestions. I'm on the fence about bringing back replay review for PI, and use it for QB roughing. I remember hating it because it stopped game too often, but at the same time, we cannot ignore how bad PI and QB roughing calls can ruin games.

Re: Officiating and possible rule changes
Roughing I wholly agree with. Some of the calls this season have been embarrassing for a violent sport. Not precisely related, but the Alec Pierce call was ridiculous.
PI I think needs a hard look at the rules wording. It needs to be more definitive about what is and is not PI and do away with this 'refs will/won't let them play' scenario. Just officiate it consistently, not have each crew set it's own guidelines. Replay won't help when it's most often the interpretation that's the issue. |

Re: Officiating and possible rule changes
professional refs with public grading scale.
onside kick revamped with a landing zone in between the two lines, movement allowed once the ball hits the ground. available anytime. the ball is moved 20 yds from the recovery spot toward the kicking team's endzone.(so for example if recovered at the 30 the recovering team gets the ball at the 50.) no need to announce the try Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

Re: Officiating and possible rule changes
Agree with both points. Blatant calls and lack thereof should be ultimately decided by assisted review. Also they still fuck shit up in NY as is it, b/c the nfl is a joke, but there really should be a way to hold them accountable. But never will. The only way that happens is if the collective as a majority stops watching, stops buying merch and stops accepting a less than fair, less than average product and system.
That bucs panthers game was a fucking embarrassment. As have SO many other been each season it gets worse.
