It is hard not to see what is happening to the immigrant community and for me not to take it personally. My mother in law met her husband in Bermuda while he was serving in the US Air Force. They were married in 1971 and moved to the United States in 1974 where he began to work for the NSA. She was unable to get citizenship until 1985. For anyone that thinks we have a logical and "generous" immigration system is just not thinking clearly.

If what was happening now happened in 1976 my mother in law would've been deported along with my wife. This is a situation that has happened multiple times since ICE has started their heinous and unconstitutional tactics. Arresting people with no warrants, holding them without lawyers etc etc

We have deported military veterans and American citizens. Many without due process. I keep hearing about criminals and yes we should deport those that have committed certain crimes. However I never hear anyone ever say we should go after the real criminals, the corporations and businesses that knowingly hire undocumented workers to take advantage of them and their labor. The truth is we will go after those with no voice because it is easier than going after Exxon or Amazon.
