Re: The annual QB carousel
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...cy-draft-trade
>>> Welcome to the 2026 NFL offseason. If your favorite team needs a quarterback, I have some bad news. Because many football fans are just now turning their eyes to the offseason, here's a quick overview. The 2026 NFL draft class isn't particularly strong overall, and it is extremely thin at quarterback. After presumed first selection Fernando Mendoza (Heisman winner, national champion at Indiana and Raiders QB in a little under three months), the best options are Alabama's Ty Simpson and ... probably LSU's Garrett Nussmeier? This class might play out like 2022, when only one quarterback went in Round 1 (Kenny Pickett, No. 20) and only four went in the first two days. There are some names available in the veteran quarterback market, but those names aren't very exciting. While last offseason included free agent quarterbacks such as (now-Super Bowl champion) Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones and Aaron Rodgers, this offseason's pool includes ... well, Daniel Jones (off an Achilles injury) and Aaron Rodgers (one year older). Because Jones and Rodgers are both strongly suspected to stay with their current teams, the biggest contract might fall to Packers backup and quality spot starter Malik Willis. Or could the Falcons' Kirk Cousins get one more solid contract after Atlanta releases him before the new league year begins March 11? <<<<<<<<<< ...........Click Link for full article. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Malik Willis has shown enough filling in at Green Bay to get a second shot at a starting gig.
Marcus is likely to sign somewhere as a stopgap, instead of spending more time backing up Jayden. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Any team signing Willis to be a starter is a fool.
Agreed that Marcus is likely to sign with a new team as there are several teams who need a QB and there aren't enough QBs in the draft or free agency. |

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profoo...on-be-spinning >>>> Every year, the coaching carousel spins first. Then, the quarterback carousel whirls. It’s coming soon. Veteran quarterbacks will be cut, traded, signed. Teams will reshuffle their depth charts with changes at the most important position on the team. In a recent item about the potential contract prospects of Packers (for now) backup Malik Willis, some of the veteran options were listed. Here’s a look at the various teams that will have decisions to make regarding veteran quarterbacks currently on the roster, or to be added once the new league year begins.<<<<< |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Will be an interesting offseason for qbs and one of the more active ones also. I cannot remember going into an offseason with this many unknowns: Rodgers, Murray, Tua, Cousins, Fields, Willis, Smith, Penix, etc. I expect a highly active FA market overall in addition to qbs.

Re: The annual QB carousel
It will be interesting to see what happens to:
Pennix- Falcons are moving on from Cousins but buzz they might move on from Pennix. He might not be a fit either way new guys in Atlanta and there’s the injury concern. If he get cut, only backup job awaits him. Tua- New regime might take the entire 1 year cap hit this year. That’s 99 million. I don’t see who would want him. Can’t play in cold or against better teams. Also, probably another concussion from ending his career. Murray- Cards likely moving on from him. I think someone will sign him for a one year deal. |

Agree on Tua. He should honestly retire. Murray has indicated a preference to possibly go to Minny which I could see. Could be intriguing there if occurs.

Re: The annual QB carousel
Dolphins cut Tua with 6/1 designation. $99 million spread out over 2 years.

Re: The annual QB carousel
Now that Kyler signed with Minny for a year as expected; is that Cousins to Arizona?
Everyone assume Aaron is coming back to Steelers. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Kyler playing in the dome with O'Connell and Jefferson could be very interesting. Loaded division. Tua and Penix likely to battle for starting gig in Atlanta.

Re: The annual QB carousel
Cousins signs a deal with Raiders. He probably starts the season until they feel Mendoza is ready to take over. If Kirk plays well enough during his time starting, he could be traded if other teams need a qb before trade deadline or setting himself for something in 27.
