I suspect the obsession is purely with an element of fans and an element of media. And BA himself. I doubt the FO and coaching staff are obsessed, if interested at all.

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
I'd prefer Diggs over Aiyuk.
Diggs last season: 85 catches out of 102 targets, for 1,013 yards, at an average of 11.9/catch. With 4 TDs. He caught 83.33% of all targets. That is damn good. The best WR in the NFL last year caught 73% of all targets. Far larger overall targets, not saying Diggs is better than Smith-Njigba, but if you throw Diggs the ball, he is going to catch it more than 4 out of 5 times. And he can line-up anywhere and run any route. Sign Diggs.

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
As of today this is how I see Diggs and Aiyuk
1. Diggs is the far better option. He would primarily be a McLauren injury insurance plan. No one else would provide this legitimately. He isn't particularly a #2 deep guy and is perhaps redundant with our pile of slot types, but the dude is a 1000 yard receiver. There is no doubt he is good, his only issue is off the field and age. I would like him. He would definitely make our WR squad better, for sure. Mid risk/high floor/Mid reward. Only football argument against is he would slow development of rookie to 2nd year guys which none of them are first rounders My opinion is we are wasting nothing by getting Diggs 2. Aiyuk is pie in the sky, and he's a bit nutty, high risk/low floor/high reward, potential disaster vs star receiver in 27/28 (yet not under contract) If u want Aiyuk, u must convince yourself he is doing all this bad PR stuff to intentionally hurt the reputation of himself and the 49ers to hurt his value and expedite his release with the sole intent to be seen as a poison pill to every team, that doesn't know this inside information. Just so only one team will make him and offer, Washington. Then, he plays on a one year deal as a saint, lights it up, then signs a multiyear deal anywhere he wants for 30m a year (including Washington) That makes him a massive risk if you don't believe this is all a show. If you know it is only some evil plan, you are cheering for more weirdness so you can scoop him up. So, I am only in favor of signing Aiyuk if this is all true, but if that is the case, I want a deal where I have the option to add a year or two to his contract via some buyout at then end of this year. For me, Diggs helps the team, Aiyuk is a 2027 guy, and I don't mind if he does 2026 on another team, we will still be his top choice. And yes, I still believe there is a world we sign both but then we have to cut a guy like Treylon Burks/Dyami which is certainly not the end of the world. My guess we have 50% chance of signing Diggs, and 30% chance of signing Aiyuk and 10% chance of signing both (maybe Aiyuk after game one to pay game by game)

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
So far Burks is being touted as the offseason prince charming on the field. We'll see how that plays out - who knows - talks this morning on junks with keim that he could be the #2 out of camp/preseason...
who knows but the longer they go without signing someone the more speculation we will get/have

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
I do have some hopes for Burks since he was a 1st round pick for a reason, and he played decent with Mariota so I'm curious to see how he plays with JD. Ultimately, I think we will see WRs rotating spots, maybe Burks and Williams will be the ones who play #2 most of time later in the season.

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
Burks is the 2nd most physically talented WR on our team. But while talent is obviously important, a lot more goes into being successful.
Sign Diggs please. I wish Aiyuk and Jayden weren't friends.

It's something everyday with this little drama queen bitch Aiyuk. If Peters signs him he is a total idiot. We have quality depth at the position. Pass. Hard pass.

this is exactly what the 49ers want they are pissed they cut him a big check and they have been mind fucking him ever since not saying BA might be crazy but he just might be at the end of his rope, by all accounts he was pretty normal until this crazyness with the 49ers

That being said, I still want Diggs over Aiyuk, and it's not particularly close imo.

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
Way too much potential drama, and just a matter of time before he’s dragging everyone in our organization like he’s doing to SF. We don’t need the headache. Give me Diggs.

I agree. And what makes folks think he’d sign for a vet min contract anyway? With his past production, someone will overpay and take the risk. I don’t want it to be us. If we offer the vet min, friendship with JD5 or not, I see him being insulted and then turning on us. No thanks. Hard pass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
