Two words to keep an ear out for:
Walter - - - - Rasby. He will come cheap and will do what the Joe Gibbs offense needs most from a TE. He will block like a third OT.

Tue, 2 Mar 2004 18:30:27 -0800 The Tennessee Titans have announced the team has reached agreement on a multi-year contract with TE Erron Kinney. There are a couple other guys I'd like to see the Redskins pursue. Check out my TE scouting report here: http://thewarpath.net/showthread.php?p=1187#post1187 |

Do we now consider Kellen Winslow Jr? I still think were alot better off taking a " Chance " on offense with a Robert Royal, a Walter Rasby, ect. I think we cant take the same " chance " with players on defense, so I would shy away from Winslow Jr. Anyways does anyone think we take him?

Yep, the word on the street is Rasby will be brought back.
He's a heck of a blocking TE, seems like a perfect fit in this system. |

Crisp, thanks for the Kinney update. While I like Taylor and they say he's the real deal (the next Lott or Roy Williams), I'm not all that down on Ohalete. I'd rather spend that no. 5 pick on Harris or Wilfork.

Bucs released TE Ken Dilger. I read somewhere he is a great pass blocking TE. May be we should get him. Afterall he did help Bucs get that SB.

I'd agree with signing Rasby and drafting Taylor. I think the latter could have more impact on a Williams D than Winslow on a Gibbs O. Remember the impact Attwater had for the Broncos?

Knowing how tight ends block 70-80% of the time in Joe Gibbs' offense, it wouldn't make sense to take Winslow and pay him the kind of money a #5 pick will demand. If we had a 'West Coast' offense like the Packers or 49ers, where the TE plays a pivotal role in the passing game, Winslow more than likely would have been the way to go.
But, we will return to the Air Coryell/One Back offense where the TEs will spend most of the time slugging it out with DEs and blitzing LBs. That means it's Sean Taylor at #5 -- And that's that. Hopefully. |
