The war of attrition: Is your roster ready?

Thought you guys would be interested in Kirwan's take on the Redskins' depth:

http://nfl.com/news/story/7397758

Interestingly enough, the Skins are the only to team that measures up to Kirwan's standards in what he considers the critical categories of roster depth.

Quote:

There are a few other teams like Miami, Dallas and St. Louis that are building up their depth. But if and when the second-team players have to take the field in big numbers, I like Oakland, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Washington and Seattle to be as fortified with depth as any teams in the NFL. Oakland, Tampa Bay, and Washington have been working on their depth furiously since January and it shows.

I found this interesting as well, I was even thinking of posting it on the "Coles: Big Toe" thread with all the concern about receiver depth on the team. If he sees Thrash as the third receiver I wonder which one he's bumping down to 4th, McCants, Jacobs or Gardner?

He don't know the value of McCants, but personally i think Jacobs will become the third receiver but all of them will play. Depth is important i think we have it. I hope we keep our receivers and our running backs as they are we have so much versatility, and with Coach gibbs mind I can't wait to see people getting choped up with the Rock and Portis and Morton and Betts. I think we have one of the best runningback corps and we ahve the best wide receiver and we are in the top five as far as QB situations are concerned.

Good article.

Just goes to show Gibbs' strong committment to depth and how important it is.

He won't let the team be wrecked by a key injury. His expectations will be that the guy behind him step in and the team doesn't miss a beat.

ist the first time in years that we have had any depth, i love it. I think the Skins have the best third receiver and third corner combo in the league.
