Re: Best Safety in the League???
Taylor may be prone to biting on playaction (not uncommon for most young, aggressive players) but he's certainly better in coverage than Roy Williams.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
Taylor will be at the Pro Bowl next year. I still don't understand (especially since fans PICK the Bowl) why Taylor's "Scare Factor" isn't reason enough to put him on there.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
I think sportswriters and the NFL in general are reluctant to give Sean Taylor's his respect and credit due to his off field problems. If he is able to be exonerated of the allegations against him, he will begin to get the accolades he deserves. I feel that sportswriters and the NFL executives are afraid that Taylor may be jailed and will project a negative image. Until he is clear of all the charges, the NFL is staying clear from him.

Now I don't agree when somebody says taylor is the most feared Safety in the league (and I know you're going to name the hits on Gleen and Clayton so don't bother) because there're other Safetyes known for their vicious hits Wilson,Dawkins and offcourse Williams who even before Taylor arriaved was and still is considered as the most feared hitting safety in the legue and it's what has giving him a spot in the past 3 Pro Bowls. Didn't you saw the hit he layed 2 Chambers Yesterday. Just ask TO who is the Safety he most respects and as someone said about taylor that holt allways tries to see where he is the same is said about Williams. I'm not saying Williams is the best safety at all I believe that place is for Ed Reed and polamalu going second I believe he is in the top 5 he has seen lost the past couple of years since Woodson got hurth and retire because he doesn't have quality coverage help (no real FS) and is trying to be and do a lot more that what he's asked for. When he played best is when he was closer to the line and covering the middle passes and Woodson covering the long ones that's how no WR wanted to go to the middle. But anyway, Taylor has a lot of potential and talent but he should be further in his development I don't know why some say that Ed reed, Polamalu or Williams are older or anything they only been i nthe league 4 years (polamalu 3) and they all we're selected for their Pro Bowl on their second year and consider top class since those years. He is good can be great has the speed, talent and abilitty he just need to be more consistent I can see him in the pro Bowl next year if he continues playing and developing. |

Re: Best Safety in the League???
With all due respect to Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu, in my book, Sean Taylor is the best safety in football. I don't see many teams throwing across the middle on the Redskins. I know Sean Taylor has a lot to do with that. In the games in which Taylor was inactive, I've seen teams challenge the Skins across the middle, not when he is in there.

I would repeat that there is no safety in the league that I would trade ST for. No one. My objective rating would be #3 (with a bullet) NPI. Behind Reed and the Bears guy who he should surpass in the next two years.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
I don't think any WR would care abotu williams as much as taylor. they both hit hard, but williams will never catch you.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
I definitely think Taylor is the player I would most like to have but Polamalu and Reed are close 1 and 2 at safety. I think Reed is probably #1 but Polamalu makes so many plays that its hard not to put him right up there.
I watched a lot of Steelers games this year and this guy is chronically around the ball, picks, fumbles, hits, and breaking up passes. The guy is simply a gamer, and a very very well rounded player.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
These past two years taylor has been top 5. next year he can easily have a better year than troy, roy, and reed. I can't see taylor do more than he does. He sometimes gets beat but the thing is our team SUCKS without him. We sucked last year when he was out against greenbay. We sucked when he was out in tampa.(those two regular season games we gave up season highs in points- Shows his dominance.) In the playoffs we almost lost it in the second half when he was kicked out. rogers saved us when he just did enough to make the ball fall out in the endzone. Rogers is going to be great next year and so is taylor. We have had 2 top 10 draft picks in the past 2 years for DBs. Our backfield is going to have experience and we are going to be amazing. I honestly would not trade taylor for any Safty right now. Taylor is going to be the best one of the next two years. Our backfield will scare the shit out of opponents.
