how big is our window?

The moves that we have made so far in free agency have been huge. Not only that, but our quality of coaching has also improved. I'm not trying to jump the gun here, but if there is a SuperBowl window starting to open in Washington. How long do you guys think it will stay open? Will we be the next 5 year NFC Champs like the eagles? Maybe a huge flop like the 2000 skins, or do we have the contender of the NFCs spot heald down for this next seasons?

I think we will make a serious run and so far right now the only team who scares me in the NFC with it's free agent moves is the cardinals~ with edge, they will have a serious offense over there in the dessert... they made some a nice move on defense by getting Kendrick Clancy. If they got a guy like Arrington to add with that new d-lineman, they will be the best in the west... discuss whatu guys think

Re: how big is our window?

I think we could make a run, but again I think our QB situation has the potential of being interesting. I know we have talked about it a million times, but we need a solid QB to win a Super Bowl, and that can potentially happen with Campbell. Persoanlly I think we have a pretty big window, with the base we have for our team, but I think we can be a solid contender for the next 3-5 years.

Re: how big is our window?

I think how long the Skins can contend depends solely upon Jason Campbell. If he comes into his own then our window could be open for a long time. That is assuming that the acquistions at wide out are what we hope they are. I have to admit that this is reminiscent of 2000, but these guys are young. I feel that this team could contend for a long time, even if Gibbs packs it in. If Saunders and Williams were to both stay here then we could be looking at a team like the one the Eagles had.

However, if we make a run similar to that of the Eagles, we definitely need to come away with a Super Bowl ring or I'll be a little disappointed.

We all need to remember offseason moves don't always turnout great for us, I mean the season when we got Coles, we were suppose to be one of the best offenses in the league, but that didn't happen. Obviously now we have a solid coaching staff, players, and seeds have been planted for the future, but just a thought.

Yeah the reminiscent of 2000 deal is exactly what I'm hitting at.

Re: how big is our window?

it depends... new tv contracts could keep the cap growing and allow us to keep spending. everyone's in good shape, though we're still shaky on the DL.

possibly 5 years (the benefit of a young offense) if campbell is any good. then a lot of contracts start running out and a lot of guys pass their prime (though, of course, we can replace people along the way). a lot of our best players are under contract through 2010 though, which is nice.

for 4 weeks we were. #1 QB and #1 WR in yards and such. coles injury, SS unwilling to adapt, QB being nailed over and over. all downhill from there

i'm so glad we got rid of that guy.

Arizona doens't really scare me. For one their defense isn't and hasn't been in recent history any real threat. They can load up one side of the ball all they want, it won't mount to a hill of beans come December.

Last year, JJ Arington was supposed to help bolster their offense, this year it's Edge. I guess we'll have to see.

the difference being JJ sucked (TOTAL bust) and edge is really good. the OL is still average at best though and the D is young (mental lapses) but they do have talent there (Berry also got hurt early, he'll be back).
