Semi-Pro Football
Have any of you guy played/tried out for a semi-pro football? This guy at my gym invited me to come and try out for a semi-pro football team he is on. I haven't played football in 7 years so I'm kind of hesitant about it.

Nope, but it sounds like a blast. Id try out if you have the time. Could be a lot of fun.

I toyed with the idea of trying out for Richmond's AF2 team a few years ago, but never followed through with it. The Richmond Speed were pretty good, but they folded a couple years ago.
I was a personal trainer for a few years, and I was in the best shape of my life, so I figured I might as well do something useful with myself while I was in my athletic prime. Unfortunately, with the schedule I was working, it just didn't permit much time for other pursuits. I still wish I had tried out, just for the sake of knowing I had given it a shot. If you have the opportunity and time to do it, I would go for it. Better to try and fail than to die never knowing, right? Besides, you might really enjoy it. What position would you be trying out for, saden1? |

They practice around 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and play on Saturdays. I think I'll just go see what it's like before making a commitment. I'm in OK shape but I still need some work. Right now I'm 6'5" 250lb. I'll play either defensive end or tight end. I'd rather play tight end though.

Jeez, saden1, if I was built like you I'd definitely give semi-pro ball a shot! Sounds like you're the perfect size for a tight end. I'd think the semi-pro coaches would love to get a hold of you.

if football is like riding a bike and it comes back quickly how come the Redskins keep signing people that have been out for a year because of injury, or drugs or wahtever then come back and suck?!?!
Not to say youll suck, just whinning about the Skins for a minute.
