1948 Bowmans you've never seen
In 1948 the Bowman card company started making football cards as we know them today. They later were bought by Topps and the story goes on.
1948 Bowman cards are rare and expensive to say the least. I started by collecting the Holy Grail of cards and that's the 1948 Sammy Baugh card. I have seen that card sell for as much as $5,700.00 alone. I now 14 of the 16 from that year. The last two are going to cost me about $100 each. The guy I get cards from was Stunned when I showed him these. He said he had never seen so many in one place. Here is a rare look at cards most folks will never see. ![]() I'm actually only 10-12 years [in cards] from having ALL redskins Bowman/Topps from 1948 through 2005. I only need 2 years in the 70's a few in 60' and some in the 50's. Yes!!! Oh well, I just wanted to share my proud collection. peace

Re: 1948 Bowmans you've never seen
The two I am missing are what they call "Short Print" cards which means for whatever reason they didn't make as many of these as the other cards. Look up at the picture of the cards and you will see almost all are posed the same way. Straight on with helmet. Sammy was a star so the let him pose with combed hair and a football in his hand. Now look and you will see two other cards in Action poses. THOSE are short print cards and cost 4-5X more than the others. I am missing two of those
Card number #24 Jack Konislowski ![]() Card number #99 Harry Gilmer

I need to get back into buying some cards. I want to get a card frame for the wall of my Redskins room.

Re: 1948 Bowmans you've never seen
I have a bid on one of the only missing [2] 1948 cards.
![]() I've never seen it for less than $70 - $100 I got a day and a half to see if'n I can get it. Also have a bid on [4] 1954 cards of that 11 card set I just need to back to budgeting $20 a week on cards and start hunting them down as I have only about 200 cards to get out of the 58 years of card making. Mid 1950's and mid 1960's is what I have left to get.
