Latest Kiper draft (from espn - 3/31)

Latest Kiper Draft I saw on ESPN:
Code:
1 HOU RB Reggie Bush (USC)
2 NO DE Mario Williams (NCST)
3 TEN QB Matt Leinhart (USC)
4 NYJ LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson (UVA)
5 GB LB AJ Hawk (OSU)
6 SF TE Vernon Davis (UMD)
7 OAK QB Vince Young (TEX)
8 BUF DT Brodrick Bunkley (FSU)
9 DET FS Michael Huff(CB) (TEX)
10 ARI QB Jay Cutler (VANDY)
11 STL LB Chad Greenway (IOWA)
12 CLE DE Kamerion Wimbley(RLB) (FSU)
13 BAL NT Haloti Ngata (ORE)
14 PHI OT Winston Justice (USC)
15 DEN WR Chad Jackson (FL)
16 MIA FS Donte Whitner (CSU)
17 MIN LB Ernie Simms (FSU)
18 DAL FS Jason Allen(CB) (TENN)
19 SD CB Jonathon Joseph (SCAR)
20 KC CB Tye Hill (CLEM)
21 NE WR Santonio Holmes (OSU)
22 DEN RB DeAngelo Williams (MEM)
23 TAM CB Antonio Cromartie (FSU)
24 CIN FS Jimmy Williams(CB) (VT)
25 NYG CB Kelly Jennings (MIA)
26 CHI CB Richard Marshall (FRESNO)
27 CAR RB LenDale White (USC)
28 JAC TE Marcedes Lewis (UCLA)
29 NYJ OC Nick Mangold (OSU)
30 IND RB Larence Maroney (MINN)
31 SEA CB Ashton Youboty (OSU)
32 PIT WR Sinorice Moss (MIA)
quick breakdown:
O: 15
QB 3
WR 3 (all speed)
TE 2
RB 4 (1 power)
OT 2
OC 1

D: 17
DT 2 (1 NT, 1 gap rusher)
DE 2 (1 DE, 1 DE/LB)
OLB 3
DB 10 (3 S/CB, 1 FS, 6 CBs)

originally 7 LBs were projected to go in the 1st, but it looks like the CBs have completely taken over. 1999 was the best recent draft for CBs (Champ, MCCalister, Bly, F Bryant in the 1st (and a FS (Antuan Edwards) that's only backup material)... I didn't see any recent NFL draft (or 2006 mock) with more than 6 DBs in round 1 though, so I was a little surprised with how much changed since his last article. Hali or MK (DEs) might even fall to the mid/late 2nd.

Re: Latest Kiper draft (from espn - 3/31)

double checked and since 1967 only once have 7 DBs (S + CBs) ever been drafted in the 1st round (1998). so 10 would be the most ever for a long time...

(I checked on theredzone.org... I did notice that they list darrell green as a C instead of a CB though :P)

http://www.theredzone.org/draft_history/

1983 draft - 3 HoF QBs (elway, marino, kelly) chosen in the 1st round, 6 1st round QBs taken (most ever on both counts) and 1 head coach (QB Gary Kubiak) was also taken in the 8th round.

I don't think Kiper is right here, because I just don't think that this many teams have a need at DB. I'd be surprised if more than 6 were taken in round 1.

I would be surprised too. Allen, Jennings, and Marshall all just jumped into the first round. and whitner is good, but i'm not sure how he got up that high.

I'd also be surprised in the bills don't try to trade down since bunkley is the 2nd best DT (but a better fit for them) and he should still be available.

I think he's on the money with Allen, but Jennings, and Marshall would be ridiculous. I don't see Cromartie either. He's good enough, but there's too many players who are better. Youboty will be an early 2nd rounder, although the Pats might need a corner bad.

I'm more interested in the rounds we have selections... Anyone got a copy of Kiper's Draft Guide.

I have the ESPN one, but that doesn't really mock anything past the first round

The following from HailRedskins.com is by-far, the best source for Mock Drafts anywhere on the Web!

http://www.hailredskins.com/MockDraft.htm

It includes several with multiple rounds already set. Several Posters/Moderators have projected the B&G 2nd Round Pick specifically.

Allen is climbing fast again to the first round now that teams have seen the hip injury is no longer a problem in fact some say that at #18 now is a reach for us.... the 1 safety that sliping out of the first is Ko simpson becasue of average workouts and other simply performing better
