(KHNL) Tragedy strikes at a Mother's Day chocolate-making event. The hand of an 18 month-old girl was ampuated in a mishap at the Menehune Mac chocolate factory today. Responders say the victim's arm got caught in a conveyor belt. Her arm was crushed and she lost most of her hand. Children were clearly visable making candy by a moving conveyor belt. This is the fifth year the Menehune Mac Chocolate Factory & Gift Center hosted a Mother's Day chocolate- making event for the keiki. Proceeds benefit the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation The accident happened as keiki, parents and grandparents hand make special box of chocolates in the chocolate factory. The company's website clearly states that no children under 7 years old are allowed. But the company president says kids under 7 are allowed if they with a parent. It's not clear why the toddler was in the factory. The President of the candy factory told News 8 he was saddened to hear of the tragic accident. Re: Happy Mothers Day
on mothers day a mother found her daughter after 20+ years or something. She was kidnapped and they found her and she had a daughter of her own. They found out and reunited on mothers day. That is happy.
