Re: Bush to wear '25' for Saints

I'm pretty happy that they didn't bend the rules. It's a good way to start the post Tags era, and I don't want to see the league change all the policies that made it successful over the next few years. This was a minor one, but things are done differently in the NFL, and I don't want to see an issue like this start a snowball of change.

The last exception was Keyshawn, btw. He had to get permission to wear 19 and now receivers all over the league wear numbers in the teens.
I've never understood why the league allowed Keyshawn #19, or why he prefers it. Officially though, the league started granting wide receivers jersey numbers between 11-19 because teams started running out of numerals between 80-89 as more and more wideouts and tight ends were added to their rosters.

Really? That's funny cause Keyshawn was allowed to wear #19 by the NFL when he was a rookie. So, clearly he hadn't proven anything at the time.

Yeah, I don't understand that. Why did they make an exception for Keyshawn before the official rule change?

Anybody know the answer to that one?
