Re: Comments on our Receiver Corps (6/15/06)
I'm actually pretty optomistic about our WR's production for the upcoming season. Moss was basically all we had last year and to get someone else out there to help him out will definitely be a boost IMO. Lloyd was in San Fran and when we saw him he was pretty solid. Thinking about the plays that he made last year and putting him next to a definite threat in Moss get's be boosted. Add in Randel El and it's not looking too good for opposing defenses and GREAT for Clinton Portis. Saunders' system will help out Portis but you throw in 3 Wide Outs and you know they will have to respect the pass, which is where Saunders will rip defenses apart. Or at least I hope that's how it goes. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Skins this season.
HAIL !!!!!

Re: Comments on our Receiver Corps (6/15/06)
patten has much more production than El, so i don't really think he's a #2. If you look at his stats the one thing that REALLY stands out is his punt return stuff.
only a 20% FC rate, averaging 10 and 12 yards a return, lots of 20+ stuff and multiple TD seasons. His Kick return stats arent super great, but good punt returners are harder to find. |

Re: Comments on our Receiver Corps (6/15/06)
I think that El may be the only guy who can effectively run the WR screen the way Moss does. He is a punt return guy who knows how to make people miss. I'm sure, with the success we had running it last yearm it will remain in the play book (especially because Saunders saw it work against his team last year).
This may sound like a simple thing, but if Moss goes down, we need someone with similar attributes to run similar plays. I think that while no one can run the same plays as Moss, we now have the players that allow us to put a guy in for each play. Moss or Patten on go routes, Moss or EL on WR screens. Moss, Patten, Lloyd on posts. Saunders offense is more of a timing offense (not the Gibbs wasn't) so we really need to make sure we get our guys to a spot in the correct amount of time and then Brunnels accuracy will really give the other teams something to fear.

Other teams will try to counter our WRs by blitzing Brunell like crazy. `We will have to make them pay for this gamble.
