I dont think I said its the same, at least I dont see a post where I did. All I said was athletes in Roman times were paid a lot more than regular people and athletes in our time are paid a lot more than regular people. Top athletes have always been paid more than regular people. |

Re: Redskins in bed with ticket scalpers?
I don't care the price of a ticket at face value. There is some sort of system that says, if the customer pays this amount, we can afford to provide a quality product. But scalpers do piss me off, and so does StubHub. They are helping legitimize the art of scalping. Case in point: Jimmy Buffett. Only area show (Nissan 8/3) sold out in less than 20 minutes (as I got on with an operator at 10:18 on a just about dead cell phone and it was already sold out). By noon, lawn seats that cost $36 were on eBay and StubHub for $100+.
Perhaps I should start a service at which the most you'll ever pay for a ticket is face value. Are there enough honest people out there that are just looking to regain the money put into the ticket without going over board? As far as the Skins, I've been on the season ticket list for a few years now, and my biggest concern will be being able to afford them when I finally get called. But until then, I'm content going when I can, and watching them at home. I figure for the cost of one ticket, I can pretty much booze and feed a group of 4 pretty easily, 8 if we stretch it and drink cheap beer.

Re: Redskins in bed with ticket scalpers?
Well, the way these companies like StubHub and Ticketmaster get around the law is to sell you the ticket at face value and the rest of the overcharge is considered a "service fee" for them obtaining and mailing the ticket to you.
It still isn't right though, legal (by a loophole) or not. |

scalping is scalping, regardless of the wording. there might be a time in our lifetime where the ordinary joe and his family just cant afford to go
