Re: postgame comments from Portis
Injuries do happen in football, and like TAFKAS said they could happen in practice, mini camp, OTA's, basically anytime they put the pads on they are at risk. I want to see all the starters play some, but only because I want to brag to my friends how awesome our offense looks. The games don't count and I don't want the HUB of our team any more exposed than he has to be. The preseason is for evaluating marginal players.
Portis had no option, he made the tackle because he's a competitor. I haven't heard his comments, but I find myself agreeing with him. Do we really think that Portis needs the work in the preseason? Running the ball is more instinctive, rookie running backs normally have the easies transition. We have no questions about Portis, and nothing good could come of his playing in four preseason games. |
