Just want to take a moment and defend Ricky Williams. Why is he a bad person or have mental problems b/c he walked away from a game/job that has already made him set for life ? If his wealth is managed properly he will never have to worry again about money. If he had stayed in the NFL he would have been suspended for God knows how many games or maybe even the season, been on the cover of countless rags and been harassed and made fun of on all the late night talk shows (okay he may already be there.) Why should someone have to endure that for smoking marijuana on his own time in the offseason. Do you know how many people smoke marijuana in the US alone? Recent estimates put it at 25 million!!!!!
I met and worked with him last year on some tv spots and I was totally impressed by this gentle giant. He was totally in shape and ready for the season with no hint of pro athlete arrogance or holier than thou crap. He really seemed to be together.
Frankly I really admire what he has done. Basically he has told the NFL to stuff it, How much money does the NFL make off of Ricky Williams yet they were all set to ban him from the game for some unspecified amount of time. I like the way he turned the tables.
