The problem is, the HOF players should vote, not some sports writers who all have some sort of personal agendas. How can you have people voting for the hall when they never played a down.....in any kind of competative football.

Tiki isn't going to retire anyway. He'll play another 2-3 seasons and be a lock for the Hall. Right now he's too iffy.

The problem with only letting HOFers vote is that there would be too much buddy stuff and team-mates pushing non-deserving team-mates for induction. I dont think the current system is perfect but I think its best because it provides a broad range of perspectives and the best chance for objectivity.

I dont necessarily believe that someone had to play football to be able to determine who the all time greats are.

I personally dont think it would be like that if the players voted. They hold the Hall with such honor that they would be true to the deserving players. The writers have so much agenda these days they push push push for certain players that may be border line at best. Some have personal grudges that play into their votes. Who would qualify more, the people who actually played the sport or people who watch from the outside? I would take the people that actually lined up and played on sundays. I can see both sides. Maybe there should be a weighted vote. given the players and writers votes with the players weighted a little more.

I just dont see why writers would have an agenda about getting a player in the HOF, what would they get out of it? Buts lets say the agenda is true, I think it would be much harder for 1 writer from say KC to push a chief into the hall because he has to get a large % of the writers to buy into his logic which I think would not be all that easy. Whereas I think it would be much easier for a group of old teammates to band together and get a buddy in.

Like I said before, the current system is not perfect but it is the best.

Re: Peter King does it again

the HOF is stupid, IMO. the greats are great, because of their performance/legacy -- not because they are in the hall.

You think so? He looked pretty serious when asked about it, saying at one point something like "I am going to retire this year."

Re: Peter King does it again

King was on the radio down here in Miami yesterday afternoon INSISTING that Tiki Barber was a better RB than LaDanian Tomlinson! The guy is such a homer when it comes to the Giants it's nauseating. People were calling him and ripping him about that and all he would keep saying is 'We'll agree to disagree then.' He came off as a serious dickhead.

Re: Peter King does it again

tiki is slower than LT
tiki is weaker than LT
tiki fumbles more than LT
tiki is not as durable as LT
tiki has played on a better team for most of his career, and still can't produce like LT

PK is such a douche.
