Cornelius Griffin

I think Griffin is a great player. I love the way he plays the game and the defense is a completely different group when he's on the field. However, he's really starting to irritate me. I understand having bad luck with injuries. In 2 and a 1/3 seasons here he's missed 5 games. 1 in 04, 3 last season and last week. He's questionable for this one. He needs to be on the field. I think the Skins really need to look into getting another ace DT in the draft this offseason or they should sign one. One way or another the Skins need to get another DT who can be a difference maker. Griffin is very tough to count on.

Re: Cornelius Griffin

Our defense should not collapse if one or two players go out. When you pride yourself on playing physically, you have to count on having several starters miss time throughout the season... and we don't have alot of depth at alot of positions this year.

We were weak at corner and D line last year (depth wise) and we suffered when we had injuries to either one...

Now we have injuries at both and we're really looking awful. I like golston, but he has to be beside a decent DT to be effective... He may improve, but right now he's not first string material.

Re: Cornelius Griffin

You make it sound like he is a Taylor Jacobs. Cornelius Griffin is the best player we have on defense but he is banged up right now. It would be foolish to expect someone that's hurt to perform at a high level. Hell, everyone is banged up right now which is one of the reasons we suck.

Our defense is REALLY banged up: Griffin, Salave'a, Marshall, Springs, and Rogers are all injured. That's half the defense.

They weren't all hurt in the first couple of weeks, and we sucked then just as bad!

Re: Cornelius Griffin

what makes me laugh is people think if you need a stud defensive tackle, you just go out and get one. its not that easy. and the 2 kids we drafted are playing pretty good right now. one thread says stop picking up over priced free agents, another says keep on over paying. this boards as as messed up as the skins

it's who you're paying. the big thing about big contracts is not making mistakes, cause they really set you back. offering arch 30mill was a huge blunder... chicago wasn't going to go anywhere near that high, and he's obviously not that good. same thing with denver and carter :/.

two guys we SHOULD have paid were pierce and clark. cheap to production levels, and they already knew the system and the players here. lemar-pierce-washington was the best LB lineup we've had in quite a while.

as far as stud DTs, 1st round draft picks are by far the best and safest way to get them.

Re: Cornelius Griffin

notice how many yards reggie wayne had? guess who was covering him most of the day. sure springs gave up a td, but its MARVIN freakin harrison. Not many people can cover him one on one. i think the d will get better once rogers gtes back (hopefully for dallas) but now im ready for the qb switch to be made.

marvin's TD was while springs was out of the game. i don't remember if he was out for any of the other catches.
