On the all-time list of games played as a Redskin, Monte Coleman is currently second having played in 217 games, Darrell Green is first. He is one of only three men to play at least 16 seasons with the franchise, along with quarterback Sammy Baugh (16) and Green (20). Coleman’s 56.5 sacks are the team's fourth-highest all-time total.

Coleman played in the Superbowl 4 times, (winning three): Super Bowl XVII, Super Bowl XVIII, Super Bowl XXII, and Super Bowl XXVI.

Honors

Monte Coleman made “the all Madden Team” in 1993.

He was elected and featured in the Washingtonian Magazine as a recipient of the Washingtonian of the Year Award in 1996.

Coleman was inducted to the Arkansas Hall of Fame in 1998.

In 2003, he was named one of the 70 Greatest Redskins.

The Redskins' policy since Baugh's retirement has been to not retire numbers. However, some numbers are unofficially retired and are usually withheld from being assigned to new players and Coleman’s Number 51 is one of a handful of such numbers.
Born a Skins fan.

Watched him play all 16 years and he played lost for all of them.

Those honors are jokes!

Looks like who's the nicest Washingtonian of the year!

Madden team OMFG!

In coverage his nickname was toast!

If he played in SB 26 he was not playing linebacker!

Use to buy hunting crap from his store in Chantilly VA in the 80's.

That's the way I see it Mr. Stat!

Jack.... Jack Pardee? I knew him as a coach and a player.

At 44 years old did you watch him get lost as much as I did!

Dude was a 5 out of 10 as a Linebacker.

Yeah, Monte, Andre, Wilbur, and Kurt all rotated in XXVI

And interestingly enough, in comparison to someone like, Jack Lambert, Coleman had more sacks and played in just as many superbowls

and in reference to the Chantilly store, that's your fault dude. Monte is known for great defense not buck huntin'...you should've ordered your hunting "crap" from a Cabelas magazine.

Re: The worst Redskins

Ricky Ervins and Reggie Brooks were two of the most disappointing backs we ever had.

Well, Ricky was great for us in 1991. As for Reggie, I remember when he had a great rookie year in 1993 and everyone was saying who got the better rookie back out of Notre Dame that year-us with Reggie or the Rams with Jerome Bettis.

5. Jeff George-could throw it 60 yd but not 3yd
6. Tony Banks-mr. close my eyes
7. Steve Spurrier-he didn't play, but wow was he trash
8. James Washington-won a superbowl with dallas and did nothing for us
9. John Hall-can't make any great kick, what a waste
10. Adam Archuletta-where has he been, oh that's right he get's run over and beat deep.
11. Norv Turner-enough said
12. Gus frerotte-head butting the wall
13. pretty much any player between the years of 1993-1999, and 2000-2005 except these fine individuals
a. Stephen Davis-why did we not re sign him
b. Brad Johnson- won a sb with TB
c. Trent Green-DUMB for letting him go
d. John Jansen-great
e. Chris Samuels-great
f. Champ Bailey-fair trade for portis
g. Darrell Green-HOF
h. Tre Johnson-Great but got injured
i. Ken Harvey-Awesome
j. Brian Mitchell- HOF
Nice list but Jay Shroeder should not be #3 on the worst redskins list. He may have been a total jerk but he was awesome in 1986 when the Redskins were the 2nd best team in the league behind the Giants. We all know how the story turned out for Shroeder the next season on beyond but based on that one year alone he can't possibly be on a worst Redskins list. I wouldn't put him on the best list either, but just not the worst list.

Re: The worst Redskins

Shouldn't the title be "The Worst Redskins Since the 80's"?

That's all the list implies.
