Not a bad article, not much stuff there though that we hadn't already heard. I thought he was reaching though when he said Todd Collins has yet to take a snap. I mean, I don't think that was ever the plan anyway when he was brought in here

It was definately a pretty blunt assessment. The part I found interesting was that Ryan Clark had been so instrumental in Sean Taylor's life, on and off the field, especially getting him in position to make plays. For all of the talk about character and 'smarts' on this team, they should have realized how valuable Ryan was. I hate to say it, but it really seems like our Brass can be a liitle hypocritical and two-faced. Greg Williams' ego borders on hubris. What a dysfunctional organization. We got issues.

And unless the Skins find cap relief by relying more on the draft for cheaper talent, you can kiss Sean Taylor goodbye after 2008. Most good teams covet their own home grown talent, and strive to retain it. Due to the tenuous nature of our cap situation after repeated free agent bonanzas, we're forced to let good players walk (Pierce, Smoot, Clark, etc.). Other than The Danny breaking the bank for Lavar (a big mistake), there haven't been too many other Redskin veterans retained. I'm amazed that Gibbs and Snyder can't see that in the salary cap age, most successful teams win with roster stability.

Wow, the article's blunt assessment is a downer. Looks like we could have problems (and mostly losing seasons) for years to come if we continue to rely too heavily on free agency.

They can easily hold onto Taylor if they want. Spread the dollars out and restructure. The question is if he wants to stay. He has already shown a distaste for his original contract. He will probably hold out this offseason and after the idiotic contract for Archuletta, he probably should.

The problem isn't the cap, the cap will never be a long term problem for them under the current rules. I see the player turnover as the real problem.

The author points out many of the things we've been saying here for a while now, so it didn't reveal anything new. We have all at some point in time made reference to these very same issues, and my hope is that the FO is also taking notice. I have long been of the opinion that the philosophy of the FO in regards to FA vs. DP must find a happy medium, with the priority on DP to consumate the nucleus of the team. Maybe the FO will eventually get a grip, and come to the realization that what they're doing is not working now, and is not going to work in the future.
