Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
It's time for Shneed and Canuck to start explaining how much it will cost to rid ourselves of him.
Although he did make a nice tackle on teams. What's frustrating is to remember Mark Murphy. he was maybe 6' 2" 200 lbs. He was always around the ball because he had the instincts to play the deep middle. They are either asking Archeletta to go against his instincts or else he doesn't have any. Brad Edwards was another one who made big plays with very little athletic ability, though his career was very short.

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
I think that with the cap hit associated with cutting him, it makes more sense to keep him as an overpayed blitz specialist and special teams player.

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
he's here for 3 years. the first three he's making vet min (but the prorated SB is added on for cap accounting purposes). releasing him would be about an 8mill hit, but after the third year (when his salary jumps from <800k to 4mill+) it'll make more sense.
unless we're clearing house or taking a year of total cap hell, he'll be one of the most expensive bench warmers in the history of the NFL. |

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
I said when we signed him that he lost his last job at St. Louis to a rook, and Rams fans were glad he was out of the line-up.
Workout warriers do not always morph into playmakers. Bad, bad FA!

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
i thought he would be utilized a little differently, with him being allowed to blitz very often, but that hasnt been the case

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
I always thought that he was a decent safety, but I didn't follow the rams D much...
I can't believe the guy had all of the hype he did and he got the money he did being THAT BAD.

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
I think a lot of this anger at AA is misdirected. His weaknesses in coverage were well documented before he adorned a Skins uniform.
The fact that this signing hasn't worked out (atleast not yet) should be blamed on the front office and the coaching staff. Jerry Gray, Gregg Williams, Joe Gibbs and Vinny Cerrato bear the blame for signing this guy over Ryan Clark. |

oh, the FO has gotten a lot of hate over their performance, but it's pretty hard to figure out who exactly is responsible for signing which players.

Quote:
If the coaches had any idea he was this bad (couldn't even stay with Witten running straight up the field), then they deserve any ripping they get for this awful signing. GW sounded as if he had almost given up on Arch in the post-game interview. If Arch doesn't show dramatic improvement through the next 8 games, he's gone next year no matter what the cap cost.

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
Agreed. We have no clue who lobbied for who. Gibbs has the ultimate say on all personnel decisions, but he might defer to the coordinators if they lobby for a particular player to fit their particular scheme.

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
From the sounds of it GW is the one that really wanted AA and had his eye on him for years.
AA would cost us about $9M in cap hits if we cut him next year, so it's doubtful he'll be gone. Our best bet is to hope a lot of his struggles this year are due to adjusting to a new system and he can rebound next year. |

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?
From what I understand GW has almost complete control on defensive personal and wanted Arch bad. It doesn't really matter who's mistake it was though. The important thing is to fix it. I can't believe there isn't some way to use this guy who appeared to be a good player in St.Louis.
