The proof is in the recent superbowl winning teams, they have been balanced (pass/run) which makes them unpredictable. This causes the opposing defenses to be on their heels guessing. One dimensional teams like Colts and Eagles (strong with the pass but average run) have come up short in the playoffs every year. The Patriots and Steelers won by running and passing and not being predictable. Skins are good running the ball but inconsistant passing. So good teams stack the line and key on Portis. It is not Portis' fault or lack of execution, the defense has 8 to 9 guys playing the run against 6 blockers. We will lost that battle almost every time. Our QB needs to make the defensive back 7 think about moving backwards. |
