If this was supposed to be a superbowl run this year, and all indications suggest that is the case, how can this have happened? Was there a fundamental communication breakdown between Gibbs and Saunders and their expectations going into this year? Is there something else happening with some of our offensive players that we don't know?

Most of us here were happy when Al Saunders came aboard because at the time we envisioned the Redskins performing, and making plays the way his KC offense did. However in his first season here, things so far have not worked out that way. If you recall during the pre-season when many were taking SB Gibbs balked at that kind of talk, and considered it premature. What has gone wrong with this team this year does not rest in the hands of any one particular thing, coach or player. What has happened is a domino effect that has spread throughtout the entire team. By bringing in Saunders, Gibbs felt he could improve on an offense that despite reaching the second round of the playoffs, was woeful at times, and not as good as a lot of people thought they were. I do not believe Saunders could fully implement his entire offense with Brunell as his QB and didn't realize it until he had the opportunity to work with him.

With the changing of the guard at the QB position, let's see if the offense looks the same from the standpoint of execution. I don't want to drop the bomb on Gibbs or Saunders just yet because we need help in so many other area's. Sunday's game will be like the beginning of a new season.
