Super-Bowl Bound?
The following excerpt is pulled from Micahel Fabiano's nfl.com fantasy column:
10. Which team will win Super Bowl XXXIX? The Broncos are the only team to win back-to-back titles in the past decade, and three of the past four champs didn't qualify for the playoffs the previous season. Taking those facts into account, this columnist predicts that coach Joe Gibbs will lead the Redskins over the Indianapolis Colts for their fourth NFL title. Hmmm. |

predictions are such a waste. every team is one injury or one bad game away from being buried. or the OK team that doesn't get bad injuries surprises everybody. save your breath the SuperBowl is a lifetime away.

Predictions like this are a waste of time, but if you've gotta make em, you might as well pick Gibbs and the skins!

Well at least he probably got one right. I doubt the Colts will make the SuperBowl. Although the Colts should be good I dont see them going to the next level. Living close to Indy (2 1/2 hours) I am almost force to watch them each week until I get Direct TV, unless they cant sell out-which happened twice last year. The Colts fans are the worse. As good as they were last year almost every home game was close to being blacked out.
There statium is the smallest in the league and they have trouble selling it out. I saw an ad in the paper for them selling tickets and they play the Packers this year, but if you want to buy tickets to the game you have to buy Buffalo pre-season game. I am sure that the Packers/Colts game, there will be more Packer fans then Colts.

i've seen that, i can't believe they can't get up the image enough to have 50,000 or whatever interested...
i mean, the senators never won anything, and i've heard people couldn't get enough of them (i wasn't born, my granddad loved baseball when he was young, until the game pace started slowing down soo much)... of course no one loves a loser like DC... maybe its a metaphor for our government... |

That Guy:
Don't fall for the revisionist history that the Washington Senators drew huge crowds. They didn't. Go to the Baseball Encyclopedia to check out attendance figures. There were LOTS of years where they drew less than 1M fans... Actually, Washington is a totally front-runner town. It is sort of to be expected; only winners stay around town and the losers go home to their districts. Winners don't have time for losers... The Wizards/Bullets drew well when they a constant playoff team; after they stunk, the attendance dropped significantly until MJ showed up. What happened when the team stunk and MJ was outta here? Lots of fans came disguised as an empty seat! The Caps draw 18,000 a game when they are in the playoff hunt and 13,000 a game when they are out of it. That's about a 30% drop. The ONLY team that draws very well no matter what the record is the Redskins. Other pro teams - and college teams in the area too - don't draw flies if they don't win. It used to be hard to get good seats for Georgetown basketball games; now you can get center court seats 10 rows off the floor at the walk-up window. I did that last year... Ten years ago you could buy Maryland football or basketball tix the day of the game. You can't do that now unless the game is over the Christmas Holiday and it is against East Cupcake A&M. |
