espn says the deal is 5 years 11 million dollars. he is definitely worth that amount, great deal

It's good to see Betts decided to stay, and I'm happy for him. I also hope between now and next season he works at becoming a better blocker. This move also serves as a security blanket in the event Portis's rehab has a setback. Six months of rehab is going to put him at June before he'll be able to go full bore.

For the record I think this a good deal for us. I think he could have gotten more if he waited to hit the open market. But it seems like he left some money on the table in order to stay a Redskin, and that's a refreshing change.

"Most importantly, he wanted to stay with the Redskins and head coach Joe Gibbs. He's comfortable working with Clinton Portis and being part of a one-two running punch. The 5-10, 222-pound back is in his fifth season with the team. He was a second-round choice in 2002."

i doubt we could have gotten as good a backup as betts for that price. great deal, and yes the fact that he took a pay cut to stay a skin...that means everything. awesome deal for a deserving guy who wants to be a skin

Very impressed if this is the deal. A contract that makes sense and while I'm not a huge Betts fan he is certainly worth this money.
