As for Kobe, I think he's a great player. A little selfish, but great nonetheless. My problem with this incident is that Ginobili blocked the shot from BEHIND. How does Kobe manage to hit him with his forearm when Ginobili is BEHIND him? I can't really think of any possible way to do that incidentally.

I think the NBA made the correct judgment.
He plays hard for sure and he is a good player but he is one of the biggest flopper's in basketball if not THE biggest. I have seen him against the Sonics quite a bit (both in-person and on tv) and the man is a flopping machine.
