European Vacation: Looking for Ideas
So my girlfriend and I want to take a short trip to Europe next month. We're looking at mid-March and interested in Italy, France, Spain, or Portugal (with Italy-specifically Tuscany-being the top choice probably)
Because of tight work schedules we want to leave Wednesday night from either Baltimore, NY, or Hartford and return Sunday night. So basically a 3 night stay, figuring we arrive early Thursday morning. So...does anyone know of any good all-inclusive vacation packages (at least hotel+flight) Keep in mind Matty the miserly ego doesn't pay me a cent to offer my two cents daily on this board so our budget is limited, we'd like to be in the $1500-$2000 range. Thanks for the input.

Check our Orbitz' hotel + flight deals. I did a quick search on their website and a roundtrip from NYC to Barcelona plus hotel was in the $1,000 price range for two people (March 14 - March 18).

My opinion on Europ is that if you can't go for like two weeks it feels like a waste of time. With the flight so long you're tired and it feels way too short. In any case you will love just about any of those I would guess. I haven't seen Italy but that's where I want to hit.

Re: European Vacation: Looking for Ideas
I don't know about travel packages, sorry. However, if you have never been to Europe I would suggest a book called "Fodor's". It's pretty popular, so you may have heard of it already. It'll tell you almost everything you need (or would like) to know about wherever you decide to go. Although, since you are only going to be staying a few days, I'm not sure how much value it would provide. Maybe you could just go to the bookstore and read some of the pertinent information.
Good luck!

Re: European Vacation: Looking for Ideas
Three for day weekend trip to Europe is a waste of money IMO. If you're going to go for that short of a period of time you can't beat Paris...it's huge, lots of shit to do, and the way people talk will make you and and more importantly your girl horny.

Re: European Vacation: Looking for Ideas
I agree that if going to Europe, you need at least 10 days...however, if she's deadset on Europe, I'd hit a major city, and save Tuscany for a time when you can be there longer than 3 nights. London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome...
However, if you want a semi-European feel, go to Bermuda...

I offered to take her to EPCOT Center. It's free and she can see like 12 different countries at once-Mexico, Germany, Japan, England, Italy, etc.

Re: European Vacation: Looking for Ideas
If you have 2 or three days, hit Rome. In the city, you have all of the major attractions such as the Coliseum, Parthenon, Spannish Steppes, etc. From the city, it's a quick (and cheap) train ride to Venice (Venezia) and Naples (Napoli). PS- Not trying to be a douche with the Italian spellings but that's all that's listed sometimes and people get confused... I've been everywhere on your list and my favorite has always been Rome. Tuscany is nice, but to me it's more of a place for relaxation, versus actually seeing things that you have always heard about. So in that case, it depends on your motivations...

Hey, 3 nights in Sunny Florida would be nice. Offer up Key West. It's incredible down there...and save Europe for another time.

OR TAF, you could drag her down to Key West around May 12th. I'll be down there for my wedding!
