More props from Collinsworth....

10. You were one of the few to predict the Cowboys' rise to success last season. Who is your surprise pick for this season?

Expectations are high in Washington with the addition of RB Clinton Portis in the backfield.

I like the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings, though I'm not sure how much of a surprise that is. Like I mentioned last week, I think Joe Gibbs is one of the top coaches of all time. The offense, with Mark Brunell, Clinton Portis and assistant coach Joe Bugel, will be much better. Unlike the Redskins of a year ago, the quarterback will not get hit.

The defense, which didn't play well last year, will be much better despite the loss of Champ Bailey. Gregg Williams was the most sought-after defensive coordinator in the league this year, and Gibbs got him. Phillip Daniels, Cornelius Griffin and Marcus Washington will take a below-average front seven and create one that can stop the run and greatly increase the pressure on the quarterback.

My expectations for the Redskins probably are as high as the fans' are in Washington.

This guy used to get on my last nerve, but he's ok now :thumb:

Hopefully we can be that surprise team a la Carolina Panthers

Gotta love the props but man doesn't Collinsworth come off as a weasel most of the time! This may change my opinion of him (i doubt it though.)

I appreciate the fact that he thinks the Skins will do well, but that doesn't make him less annoying to listen to in the booth...he tends to speak before he thinks when making comments during games.

Collingsworth seems to get more things right than the others at Fox. But no one can be more annoying than Terry Bradshaw.....in fact the NFL Fox show gets on my nerves. I prefer ESPN and NFL Countdown.....although they ruined the whole thing bringing in Michael "Drugstore Cowboy" Irvin

I completely agree with you on Bradshaw and the rest of that pregame show

what r u guys smoking? j/k the cbs pregame crew is as exciting as paint drying on a wall and the espn guys only talk about a small handful of the same teams almost every show. The guys on fox have the best chemistry always sending zingers at each other and like I said on another thread, they have Jillian Barberie. Thank god jimmy kimmel left last year though cuz he made it hard to watch sometimes. anyone else use to watch inside the nfl on hbo a couple years ago? I stopped watching it when they completely switched up the cast and brought on bob costas and chris carter, but before that it used to be a pretty good highlight show.

I'll give you Barberie. Actually I'll keep her but you know what I'm getting at. My whole thing is I want to watch a pregame show for its football talk not for Terry Bradshaw to mug for the camera and show the world how funny he thinks he is. When he takes the time to actually talk football he can be good to listen to, but most of the time he just likes to step on other people's lines and act like a clown.

Fox Sports Net used to have a show hosted by Chris Myers that I thought was pretty decent

Fox pregame show is by far my favorite - constantly entertaining & plenty of info. It is MUCH, MUCH better without that annoying Collinsworth. He didn't fit in at all on that show. Can anyone here really sit there and watch that disgusting Michael Irvin on Sundays???

Fox is infotainment. Personally I prefer the more straight forward football talk style on ESPN.

i'm fairly certain Collinsworth wrote that before the Rams game. he's the most 'what have you done for me lately' commentator out there, first to hop on the bandwagon, first to jump off.

I usually try to watch some of all the pregame shows. ESPN starts an hour earlier so I watch that one first, then I just keep switching at commercials.
