Here's some advice...

GO SEE 300!!!

Do not finish reading this thread. Drop what you are doing and head for the theatre.

{slight spoiler info below...}

For those that have already seen it or are testosteronely challenged, here's my take. I must say I came away very impressed. I appreciated the unique story-telling perspective and washed out scenery. The battle scenes were very well done. I'm fairly certain that I've never seen an elephant fall off of a cliff, especially from an overhead view. Amputated legs spinning around in slow motion are always a nice touch.

I have to say I was a little surprised at the number women that came to see the movie. Granted most of them were with their boyfriends, but still.

Re: Here's some advice...

one of the best special effects I've ever seen as most of the movie was filmed in front of a green screen. very accurate details in relation to the combat movements and the group functioning as one. they stuck very closely to the graphic novel this is based upon with an occasional panel for panel clone. all together it was a great movie based on something very important in the landscape of human history all be it with some embelishments and twists. I believe it very much so lived up to the hype and is a must own dvd for me. I'm even going to see it again later this week with my parents and grandfather of all people.

it makes sense in a way cuz there were a bunch of big ass dudes in little to nothing clothes-wise.

I was suprised by the amount of idiotic frat boys who went to the midnight showing I went to of the movie. u could smell that some had either snuck in beer or just come from somewhere where they'd had a few. some were even so bad they were flirting with the usher(female) and one almost got into a fight with myself and a friend cuz the dumbass jumped a couple rows of seats to get to the middle section and crash landed into the back of our seats.

This...is...SPARTA!!!!

It looks like a pretty cool movie, and the actual story of the battle of Thermopylae is pretty interesting and significant

it's an action film. there's no real plot, and it has no historical value, but it looks nice.

In an multi-hour video game sorta way.

Oh and by the way, Sparta not so much in favor of freedom and the American way.

Re: Here's some advice...

There were many parts of that movie that everyone simultaneously popped wood on some of the deathblows.

One of my favorite killshots was actually not battle-related. It was when the Queen is like, "This will not be quick, and you will NOT enjoy this." Awesome. What I liked the most about that movie is the fact that it didn't have the typical "huge-battle-scene-camera-shake". I loved how it slowed down as the army or person progressed through the battlegrounds and would go into super slowmo as they chop an arm or two off.

Honestly, how many movies have you seen where a 20' wall of dead bodies was used as a weapon?

No shit man. Seriously, I was pounding a six pack of PBR during the movie and it was the best thing I'd ever seen.

I wish I had an eight pack. No matter how hard I work out, I can't add that two on there. Is that makeup or are they just that jacked?

HA. Yeah, I was impressed with that movie. Frank Miller gives me the violence I crave in a pretty package.

Originally from my hometown of Olney, MD. That means Olney has given the world the writer of Sin City/300/a ton of Batman stuff and Carl Wayne Bishop...
