Nepotism
I'm curious, why do people frown upon Nepotism?

Re: Nepotism
I strongly disagree with nepotism.....unless it is helping me. People who don't try to help their friends are strange.

Re: Nepotism
I have often thought.........I wonder why nobody has had the courage to start a thread on nepotism??

Re: Nepotism
You mean in the workplace?
Just the idea of someone getting passed over for a job because the boss decided to hire his brother or sister instead. Yeah, kinda obvious, that's pretty annoying.

Re: Nepotism
Well in the workplace it is kind of interesting. They frown upon nepotism, yet connections and networks help drive the hiring and firing of jobs. Seems a bit hypocritical to me, personally.

Re: Nepotism
Yeah, and actually I don't get why a manager would want to hire a family member (unless they truly were the best person for the job). A manager should want the best people possible working for him because their performance reflects upon the manager.

Re: Nepotism
well the job i'm at right now came through a family friend. Same with the last one. I mean, i've benefitted from it so i won't be the one complaining. Connections are connections, the way i look at it.

Re: Nepotism
Just remember it's not what you know, it's not who you know. It's what you know about who you know.
Sometimes being the benificiary of nepotism (cronyism, what have you) means you have to work harder to prove your worth. Those that can't tend not to last long, in my experience. Raise your hand if you think Crazyhorse is chomping at the bit ready to pounce on this thread thinking it must be about the Bush family

Re: Nepotism
Love it and hate it.
Love it when someone earns the job. Hate it when some under qualified person weasels his way into the job( Kurt Schottenheimer!). |
