I gave them a B for a few reasons.
First of all our special teams play just didn't get the job done. When a team doesn't get a first done yet still nails a FG after a punt we have problems. I think Gibbs should have challenged a few plays, and although it worked out I'm a bit curious why we didn't just run the clock out at the end. As far as master play calling for Gibbs. He called a total of 8 passes for the WRs and HBacks, and the RBs got a few balls thrown their way. Very conservative. Stick with whatever works, no doubt, but I'm not going to say the playcalling was anything innovative or inspirational. All in all a very solid game. The coaches had them ready. Bugel got extra credit! That Guy - Week 3 is the Cowboys game. On Monday night. Which I hope will be the brightest part of our season! We don't play the Eagles till about 1/2 way through the season. |

I give them an A all the way. I love the way our O-line looked.

I also gave them an A but there is room for improvement. We definitely should have challenged on Brunnell's run. I read somewhere that we hired a replay official to advise Joe G on that stuff. Where was he????? It also seemed like any time we had a third and long, instead of just trying to get the first, we threw the bomb (all incomplete) why not just go for the first once in a while??
O-line was great, defense was great!!! Let's keep it up next week and definitely week 3!!!!

I gave them an "A", but it's more of an "A-" because of special teams and not challenging the Brunnell run spot.....or even going for it on 4th down there. Yeah, I know it would be way out of character for Gibbs, but with less than 1 yd for the 1st down and 3 for the TD, it wouldn't have been that tough...and considering the way the D was playing, THEY might have scored if we didn't make it....or at least given the O great field position for the next drive. Oh well....we won anyway!!!

I give them a A+ for Defense and B+ for offense and a C- for Special teams. Overall we were well prepared though and got the W so who cares. I agree about challenging Brunells spot, you HAVE to challenge that. I think we will find out how good we are this week against NYG. The Giants are a team we should beat, no excuses. THey will be hungry and prepared though, and if were not they will win. As long as we are prepared this week, which with Gibbs i'm confident we will be, we should win.
Its just nice to have good coaching again. |
