Culpepper doesn't know this offense and I don't think he has any intention of being anyone's mentor. For the role the backup has to serve on our team, give me Brunell any day.
I'd rather have a healthy Culpepper backup Campbell than Brunell, but you can't expect to acquire Culpepper with a contract that fits in the cap space created by releasing Brunell...so this is pretty much a non issue.

LOL

I am agreeing with you, but in sort of a round about way: Brunell is under contract with us, and Culpepper would cost a lot more. Therefore we keep Brunell (and thats the smart decision...if a decision at all).

Theres really no good reason to cut Brunell at any point now, he carries a large cap penalty number and his contract voids at the conclusion of the season anyway. There are 30-31 better fits for Daunte Culpepper than in Washington.

It doesn't matter where he goes, he's not going to succeed. The guy is on questionable knees and will open his new team's playbook, if he is lucky, before the start of their training camp.

As for Ramsey, all I am going to say to the lovers and haters is...please stop.

First Choice
Jacksonville

Second
Kansas City

Third
Atlanta

Fourth
Buffalo

I think if this was 2 weeks ago you'd be spot on. Now, though, It's Atlanta 1 with Jacksonville a distant 2 (if for no other reason than to stay in Florida because he would be the 4th best QB on the team). I doubt he plays backup outside in a cold city. If not Atlanta, I expect him to wait for a preseason injury. He foresees himself as one of the top QB's in the league and I would think he'd rather sit a season than play second.

I think Brunell's value to the team (there I go again talking about Brunell) is greatly underappreciated by the masses. He's not being asked to lead the team on the field. He's there to play when needed but most importantly to help Campbell, sort of serve as another coach and a mentor. I still maintain that in both those categories he's much better than Culpepper. Campbell has spoken highly of him and Brunell has done a very good job of mimicing other offenses in practice
Sorry. I should have said the game that got us in the playoffs, not the playoff Same point. Going back to an injured Brunell over Ramsey for the playoffs was truly blind. Not to pick up Culpepper because Brunell is still on the squard would be one of the worse moves in recent Redskin history.

If Campbell goes down this year I'm going to cry like two little girls and then perversely yet again suffer through Brunell's massively hopeless and irritating performances. He's been a menace to Gibb's legacy whether Gibbs knows it or not.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree on that then. I am going to try as hard as possible to stick to my plan not to bring up the past with Brunell unless absolutely necessary.

The sack and fumble was caused by Jansen's missed block and Ramsey's
subsequent unconsciously. The interception wasn't his fault either and I don't recall the other fumble. He was playing well and moving the ball and had just put us in scoring position for the second time when Jansen blew it.

Brunell stunk up the field for the rest of the game. Playing two and a half quarters he threw for less than a hundred yards and failed to move the ball. Gibbs, of course, was fine with that.

However, I'm bowing out on this matter now. I don't want to deal with this business again. Returning to a time when fans turned on a QB who was our leading ground gainer over a four year period in behalf of a coach who had made a horrible decision even to bring Brunell in for the first place is something I dont want to do.

My guess:

1. Rams
2. Jags
3. Lions

On paper maybe...but in actuality, they already spent a lot of money on high priced free agents, and I don't think they want someone to undermine Brady, cause you know Culpepper won't keep his mouth shut.

Yeah I know, same old story nothing was ever his fault. Brunell had a 70.5 QB rating in that game but yeah, he stunk.

I love Ramsey logic.

Traditionally, we never like the starter except for in the two weeks following a Super Bowl win. Babe Laufenberg? I expect to see the Bramlet thread started after beating the Dolphins but JC throws a pick.

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

I saw this thread when it was first posted & it had some good posts - just info about where DC might go. I knew though, that it had to turn to a discussion of the skins picking him up. However, a ramsey tangent was a little unexpected.

Without taking sides in that debate, I'll just say that picking up Dante would be like picking up J. George in 2000. Remember how Brad Johnson reacted?
JC is our man & he has a working relationship w/Brunell, who at this point is no threat to take his job. Dante would want to compete for the starting job & would be unlikely to help JC the way MB does.
