Postgame Q&A with LaVar

From Redskins.com

Q: LaVar, what disappointed you most about the loss to the Giants
A: "That we lost, period. They came out ready just like I expected them to do. I talked about it all week. We couldn't come in here with a relaxed mentality. They were the better team. That's a learning experience. We really had to grow up, on the job. Sometimes that's hard to do. It's something you have to accept and get better from it."

Q: Were you surprised at their intensity level?
A: "I knew they'd be ready. Watching them on film, they did not seem like the type of team that everybody was saying would go in the tank. That isn't what I got. And they came out and proved it against us. I hate that it's losing to a team that counts toward winning the division. But we'll bounce back from this. There's no time to hang our heads."

Q: Did the Giants do anything differently on the field that what you expected?
A: "From my standpoint, they actually did what we expected them to do. But when they execute, it doesn't matter. If you know it's going to happen and you're able to execute plays, then you get it done. Obviously to get the lead, and then hold on, they made some very key plays at very critical times during the game."

Q: What will you take from this game?
"The biggest thing is that a lot of guys really stepped up to the plate while the game was on the line. We gave ourselves opportunities to win the game."

Q: What did Joe Gibbs say at halftime about all of the turnovers in the second quarter?
A: "Sometimes you make mistakes on your own and sometimes you're forced into mistakes. I have not had an opportunity to review the film, but I know we made a lot of mistakes. For us to have an opportunity to win even though we made all of those errors was kind of encouraging because we can fix those errors and become a better team. We're still getting a little bit more cohesion. We'll learn from this. The attitude in the locker room was to learn from this."

Q: Were you surprised at how well Kurt Warner played?
A: "The worst thing that anybody can do is under-estimate him. The Giants didn't just bring him here. They used a first-round pick [on Eli Manning] and usually you play that first-rounder. But they brought in Kurt Warner and they expected him to come in and produce for you. He had a good game. We did our best to give the offense opportunities. But they played well enough to win."
